Here’s the story of my growth over the past year.If anyone is inspired(激励) by this, that’s
wonderful.
I’d been stuck as this under-confident,fat and just frightened girl for years and years and
years.Since I was a little girl,I’d been stuck like this, and I had lived a life where I’d be afraid of
everything. But then it all started changing.Something clicked, and in over a period of six months I
finally managed to stick to one of my diets, bringing me from overweight straight down to
underweight.This proved(证明) that I could change myself.
One single time,I heard about a public speaking thing going on at my university, and for the
first time,I managed to keep up the courage to go there. For the first time I was able to share my
story, and able to do it in front of so many people possibly judging(评判) me,and suddenly all the
fears about speaking publicly started vanishing.I never felt more confident. This taught me I could get rid(去除) of my fears. It was from that point on that my road to
change went from a rocky mess to a full-on empty highway.
Using the fact that I could change, and that I could get rid of my fears,I started working on
them one by one.My fear of talking to strangers,my fear of asking simple questions,my fear of
hanging out with people,my fear of being myself...All of them were gone. And I still continue to
progress to this day.I’ve never stopped.

2.What does the underlined word “vanishing” in paragraph 3 refer to?

3.What can be inferred from paragraph 4?

B.Many other fears were on the way.
C.The author felt empty in face of fear.
D.The author started changing rapidly.
4.What’s the purpose of the text?

B.To prove a new idea.
C.To teach how to speak publicly.
D.To show how to get rid of fears.

When people think of winter sports, they usually think of ice skating, skiing or snowboarding.
Without doubt, these are some of the most popular winter sports—although, thanks to man-made
snow we can play most of these sports all year round!
Last weekend, I went snowshoeing with a group of teachers from my school. Although I had
walked in very deep snow almost two years ago, I had never tried snowshoeing before. A
snowshoe is, actually, a large plastic frame(框架) which you fix to your own shoes. The snowshoe
increases the surface area of your feet, therefore making you less likely to sink in the snow.
At first, it felt a little strange—a bit like wearing flippers(脚蹼)when you swim! I felt quite
uncomfortable to start with, and it was difficult to climb over the fallen trees with the snowshoes
fixed to my feet. However, I love hiking and am used to walking in mountainous areas so I soon
got used to it. I loved walking through the forest and seeing all the trees covered in snow! At times,
walking uphill in the snow was hard, especially when there were rocks under the snow. That said,
once we reached the top it was worth it! The mountain we climbed was called “Le Tanet” and itwas 1,292m high. That’s higher than Snowdon, the tallest mountain in Wales! The sky was a bit
grey, but the views were fantastic. I managed to get some great photos. After taking lots of photos,
we started the descent. In some ways, going down the mountain was harder than going up. It was
easy to slip in the snow.
At the bottom, we had a hot drink in a small wood house. It was surely needed after a few
hours of walking in the cold! Before we went home, I had a go at sledging(乘雪橇), which I’d
never tried before! It was great fun!
Overall, I’d really suggest snowshoeing as an alternative(替代物) to the more well-known
winter sports. Besides being a lot cheaper than skiing, it’s easier and is considered to be a lot safer!
5.The author soon got used to walking with the snowshoes because he ________.
A.had experience in ice skating
B.often climbed trees in the forest
C.was good at swimming with flippers
D.often went hiking in mountainous areas
6.What does “the descent” in paragraph 3 refer to?
A.Going down the mountain.
B.Taking a lot of photos.
C.Enjoying the beautiful scenery.
D.Falling down in the snow.
7.What does the author think of snowshoeing at last?
A.Fun.
B.Uncomfortable.
C.Dangerous.
D.Practical.
8.What type of writing is this text?
A.A sports report.
B.An advertisement for sledge.
C.A personal experience.

六:七选五
It’s a common practice to take off your shoes when you enter your home. Many do this to
prevent dirt and bacteria from getting inside.
1
Technically, yes. As you walk around outside, your shoes pick up bacteria, viruses and dirt. A
2017 study showed that more than 26 percent of the sole of shoes worn in homes contained
Clostridium difficult, or C. diff, a common healthcare-associated infection that can be deadly.
But if that worries you, get this--the average person has more than 100 trillion microbes(微
生物) in and on their body. .
2 And if your pets go outside, they’re bringing in dirty stuff
on their paws and fur. Thankfully, most of the bacteria on your body and in your home are
harmless. Same with the stuff you track in on your shoes.
3
Take them off if you’ve got little kids crawling around on the floors, who may then
put their fingers in their mouths. Disinfect if someone in your home is sensitive to infection. And
since pollen(花粉)can be transferred from shoes to floors, and especially carpets, kick off your
shoes if someone at home has allergies.
. 4
Each of your feet has about 125,000 sweat gland and any sweat on your feet can be
transferred to carpets. Wet carpets, in turn, trap dirt.on the sole,
In the end, the choice of whether or not to go shoeless is yours. . 5
But whether your shoes
are on or off, you need to clean your home as often as possible.
A. But is that really an issue?
B. Sweat can also contain microbes.
C. Your home is covered in bacteria, too.
D. Despite this, other people think this is unnecessary.
E. Some people just like the feel of walking around in bare feet.F. Still, there are some cases where it may make sense to remove your shoes.
G. If you’re really determined to cut down on dirt, keep your slippers on rather than going
barefoot.
