Spring Equinox (春分), the fourth of China’s 24 solar terms, often arrives between March 19 and March 22. On this day, the sun shines directly over the equator, making daytime and nighttime equal.  人们热衷在春分竖立鸡蛋使其保持直立！虽然传说此举能带来好运，但科学解释这与地球公转位置创造的平衡条件有关。出生后4-5天的鸡蛋最易成功——下沉的蛋黄降低了鸡蛋的重心。

People love balancing eggs on the Spring Equinox, making them stand upright (直立的)! Though it’s said to bring luck, science explains it’s possible because Earth’s position creates better balance. A 4-5-day- old egg works best — its settled yolk lowers the center of gravity.

2.寄愿纸鸢

2. Kites with Wishes

 放风筝是春分永恒的传统。古人将健康祈愿写在纸鸢上放飞以“送走”疾病，如今人们则书写“五谷丰登”等祝福语，期待天神见证。

Flying kites is a timeless Spring Equinox joy. Long ago, people wrote health wishes on kites and released them to “send away” sickness. Today, families write blessings like “good harvest” for the sky gods to see.

3. Spring’s Tasty Greens

 食用野生荠菜、春笋等时令鲜蔬是养生传统。古籍《黄帝内经》记载：顺时而食可强身纳福。

Eating fresh spring vegetables — like wild herbs or bamboo shoots — is a healthy tradition. The ancient book Huangdi Neijing teaches that seasonal foods keep people strong and bring good fortune.

 被誉为“春天的使者”的燕子此时北归，陶渊明曾以“翩翩新来燕，双双入我庐”赞其灵秀。与此同时，南方农民开始春耕，并用糯米团犒劳勤恳耕牛。

Swallows, known as “spring’s messengers”, return north during this time. Poets like Tao Yuanming praised their beauty: “New swallows dance into my house.” Meanwhile, farmers in southern China plant crops and reward hardworking cattle with sticky rice balls.
